Farmer’s Market

Filed under: Arts and Entertainment — Jocko @ 2:10 pm

Do your part in reducing carbon dioxide gas emissions by buying locally produced goods. Not only does fresh produce taste better, transportation costs including fossil fuel consumption are kept to a minimum and the island’s economy is supported. Arts, crafts, jewellery, and music are also featured. The Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Community Hall. It’s a social event too, so see you there!

  1. I have had a booth at the Farmer’s Market during last summer and starting up this spring. My favourite aspect of the market is the ‘Gemutlichkeit,’ or warm friendly feeling, one gets participating with the other vendors, and chatting with the marketgoers. Although the fresh produce stands are not really in full swing until later in the summer, there’s plenty of tasty baked goods and jams, and more and more food concessions are springing up. As Jocko said, Saturday is Pender’s day to socialize. Watch locals congregate at the market and later at Driftwood Centre.
