Hi Kae, Thanks for your guess. No, it’s not a squash, but is actually a close up of the trunk of an Arbutus or Madrone tree growing here on Pender Island. A branch must have come off long ago and the bark has healed over the wound to form this interesting pinched look. Jocko.

I think it’s the bottom of a squash of some sort.
