With the weather so bad, the decision was made to cancel the planned activities for Pender’s Earth Day. Many Volunteers and Sponsors had geared for this day, only to realize the weather was not going to cooperate. Pender Island Realty, True Valu and Driftwood had all donated to the cause.
SO WE ARE RE-SCHEDULING!!
20th Annual Love Your Ocean & Your Earth Events Plannned for Saturday May 17th
Twenty years ago, the B.C. Coastal Cleanup Campaign was born on Pender Island. The Annual Volunteer Beach Cleanup, (originally scheduled for Saturday April 19th) has been re-scheduled to take place on Saturday May 17th. Join in with the hundreds of community members as well as numerous local businesses and organizations who turn out to lend a hand cleaning up local beaches and then gather for an afternoon of Earth-friendly activities. Cleanup begins at 10am, meet at the “Drop Zone” in the Driftwood overflow parking lot, then return to the Driftwood “Town Square” for prizes, live music, displays and a community dialogue on climate change from noon to 2:30pm.
