About 35 people attended the meeting at the Hall – many offered comments to Corky’s question of “if the provincial agriculture budget was increased, how should the money be spent?” This question was asked because the BC budget for agriculture is the lowest in Canada at 3.3% of the GDP for agriculture whereas the Canadian average is 16.4%. There is currently a resolution circulating around the various agriculture groups in the province asking for the budget to be increased at least to the Canadian average. People on Pender thought an increased budget should result in more ag extension and services to farmers, and a reinstatement of the Buy BC program.
