  1. Who are the current nominees? What are the issues? Does the current candidate support Short Term Rentals?

    thanks

  2. I guess we won’t know who the nominees are until after Oct. 10th. I would suspect that if Gary Steeves and Ken Hancock are running for re-election on North Pender, their anti-STVR (Short Term Vacation Rental) stances will be unchanged. I’ve heard through the grapevine that an environmental consultant is considering running and their position would probably be anti-STVR.

Regarding issues, the past minutes of meetings viewed at: http://www.islandstrust.bc.ca/ltc/NP/minutes.cfm
should give a good indication of what the issues have been in the recent past. I’m not aware of any new major issues…?

  3. View the October 7, 2007 post on Penderblog regarding past discussion and legal judgement on short term vacation rentals on North Pender.

  4. Thanks for your quick response.

Being 57 myself and looking forward to a long life on Pender I am hoping someone is thinking ahead to a sustainable seniors community living situation. I see many of my friends that will have to leave Pender in the near future because they will not be able to care for themselves.

A higher density seniors living centre, somewhat like the Plum Tree but with more services, is needed within walking distance to shops and community.

If you loose your driving license on Pender you are pretty well house bound unless you have friends or volunteers to drive for you. On Pender most are too independant to ask for or even take charity. I have yet to see someone waiting at the free ride stops when I go by.

    thanks rodger
