Just in time for Christmas, a real gift is arriving in all Pender Islanders’ mailboxes every second Friday. A new Gulf Islands newspaper, The Islands Independent, was launched on November 7, 2008 on Pender Island. The brainchild of Laurie Kay, it promises to be a source of news, culture and entertainment on Pender and the Southern Gulf Islands. It may also be picked up at TRU VALUE FOODS at the Driftwood Centre, and at a variety of other outlets, including the Southern Gulf Islands routes of BC Ferries very soon. And its free!! Check out whats happening in our community, and let the community know whats on your mind. Classifieds, too. Soon to be on the other islands …
This paper seems to be similar to the Island Tides. How will it be different? Will the Island Tides continue? How can one contact the editor? I noticed their website http://www.islandsindependent.com is under construction.
