Islands Trust Call For Visitor Poster Art

Filed under: Arts and Entertainment — Jocko @ 11:11 am

From the Islands Trust:

VICTORIA ⎯ The Islands Trust is seeking submissions of art from resident island artists which will be used to create posters with conservation messages for visitors to the Islands Trust Area.

“These posters will be used as an educational tool to encourage sustainable tourism in the region by reinforcing values that are critical to the long-term conservation of the region and by incorporating specific messages about water and habitat conservation,” said Sheila Malcolmson, Chair of the Islands Trust Council. “The project will also provide a significant opportunity to promote the rich artistic culture of the region, as local artwork will be showcased in the poster design.”

Up to three pieces of work, one from each of the three regions of the Trust Area (Northern Islands, Southern Islands and Howe Sound Islands), will be selected.  Artists of the selected pieces will each receive a $1000.00 honourarium.

Any artist residing full-time in the Islands Trust Area is eligible to submit up to two works of art to the Islands Trust.  Current staff members, contractors and trustees are not eligible to enter this competition.

For a complete copy of the Call to Artists (i.e. project description, eligibility requirements, selection process and criteria, timeline, application requirements and application form) go to the Islands Trust web site at: www.islandstrust.bc.ca after April 30.

Completed artist submissions must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.
